Liverpool Crown Court sits at the Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts, Derby Square, Liverpool, L2 1XA - a purpose-built complex opened in 1984 on the historic site of Liverpool Castle. Before then, Crown Court business was heard inside the grand neoclassical chambers of St George's Hall. Today the Derby Square building houses the Crown Court, Liverpool & Knowsley Magistrates' Court, the District Probate Registry and the Youth Court under one roof, making it one of the busiest Crown Court centres in the North West circuit alongside Manchester and Preston.
