About Plymouth Combined Court

Designed by architect Hector Stirling and opened in 1963 in the Modernist style, the Plymouth Law Courts replaced the old quarter sessions venue that had operated from Plymouth Guildhall since 1874. The building sits between Plymouth Civic Centre and the Guildhall, on land cleared after the Plymouth Blitz. Today the centre houses the Crown Court (location code 446), the County Court, and the Family Court under one roof, which is why it is commonly referred to locally as the Plymouth Combined Court.
