About Kingston upon Hull Crown Court
Designed by the Building Design Partnership in red brick with stone dressings and built at a cost of £11.3 million, the Combined Court Centre was officially opened by Lord Chancellor Lord Mackay of Clashfern on 18 October 1991. Before this purpose-built venue opened, all criminal hearings in the city were heard at Hull Guildhall. Today the courthouse handles indictable and triable-either-way criminal matters committed from the Hull and Holderness Magistrates' Court, as well as appeals against magistrates' decisions.
